Abstract

When authors had detected the asymtomatic malaria from Korean field army in Viet-Nam 1966^(2)", the concentration of trophozoites in blood was simultaneously observed to study relation ship between symptoms and number of trophozoites. The counting method of trophozoites was modifide the Earle-Perez method.^(4)
The results observed are summarized as follows.
1. The concentration of trophozoites in blood according to each species are significantly different(p>0.05):
The mean value of P. falciparum is 115 trophozoites/1000 WBC (minimum 3, maximum 980), P.vivax is 124 (min. 73, max. 167) and P. malariae, 83 (min. 2, max. 162). As compared with other¢¥s reports in the past, these are more highly concentrated and may be developed fever and other symptoms in almost cases, and very widly dispersed in statistics.
2. But comparion of concetration of trophozoites in blood stream between hyper-and hypo-endemic areas is not significant (p> 0. 05).
